THE SHOT

CONCEIVED BY BONE ORCHARD | DIRECTED BY ANNA JONES DAVALL DRAMATURGY BY ROWEENA MACKAY | CREATED WITH CATHY CAPLAN

Based on interviews conducted by Bone Orchard with New York City based media representatives and military personnel, THE SHOT tells the fictional story of the death of Brendan Zilinski, a twenty seven year old U.S. Marine from Pennsylvania who is stationed in Afghanistan. An embedded photographer takes a photograph of Brendan's body and this action sets off a series of events involving the press, military and civilians.

Created in collaboration with playwright Cathy Caplan (two time Mabou Mines/Suite artist-in-residence; Lapis Blue Blood Red, Silver Nitrate), THE SHOT was Bone Orchard's contribution to an issue that is politically and emotionally unnerving.
